With the dearth of quality cinema in mid-February, Cory and Tristan were left to wait for the much anticipated March releases by catching up on some last-minute 2016 films.
First up, they briefly discuss some older films – including the 1978 Brian De Palma psycho-kinetic thriller The Fury and early talkie period piece The Gorgeous Hussy, featuring Joan Crawford in an early role.
Next up is the Oscar-nominated 20th Century Women – here for original screenplay – that also stars Annette Bening as a matriarch of an enclave of progressive hipsters growing up in 1970’s southern California. Included in the group are Greta Gerwig, Elle Fanning and Billy Crudup.
The pair discuss late-December release Paterson, the latest Jim Jarmusch work of art that relies on Adam Driver as a bus-driving poet who lives in Paterson, New Jersey.
They also witnessed the newest landmark television event of 2017, FX’s Legion, starring Dan Stevens as a schizophrenic mutant trying to figure out his place in the world of X-Men while government officials seek to detain him.
