It’s all about the classics this week, folks: Cory dove deep into the past with such Steve McQueen flicks as Le Mans and The Thomas Crown Affair, and the Frank Sinatra war picture Von Ryan’s Express. Not to be outdone, Hollywood pushed their own remake of a McQueen classic: Papillon, featuring Charlie Hunnam in Steve’s role, while Rami Malek fills in for Dustin Hoffman. Tristan also pops up with a Winona Ryder feature, 1993’s austere The House of the Spirits.
First, the pair discuss some recent Netflix films:
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, a young adult rom-com that features Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Israel Broussard (Happy Death Day).
Cargo, a post-apocalyptic zombie drama set in Australia and starring Martin Freeman (Black Panther).
The big feature of the week was one that each were anticipating highly: Brian Henson’s takeover of the Muppet brand and reformation into something a bit more “adult”: The Happytime Murders, a pseudo-Roger Rabbit with Melissa McCarthy dealing with a serial killer in a world of puppets. Is it everything we hoped for?
